Smashy Dash started as a simple idea: what if Crossy Road, but you're the driver? Instead of dodging cars, you're the chaotic driver speeding through highways, trying to rack up points by smashing into as many animals as possible. Morbid? A little. Fun? Absolutely.
What it was
I solo-developed Smashy Dash as a full-featured, high-quality mobile game. It featured a fast-paced, top-down driving mechanic with a clean visual style and an original soundtrack. The game included:
- 🚗 Multiple Unlockable Cars: Each with unique stats like speed, handling, and damage
- 🏁 Progression System: Earn points, unlock vehicles, and chase high scores
- 📊 Live Leaderboard: I built the backend system myself to support global scoring and rankings
- 🎵 Original Music: A full soundtrack to match the chaotic vibe
I launched Smashy Dash under my own California-based LLC, Player One Studio, and released it for iOS and Android in Mexico and Canada as part of a soft launch. The game was fully polished, tested, and felt like a proper release — not just a prototype or a half-done jam game.
Why it mattered
This was my first mobile game where I took full ownership — from concept to code to release. It was a personal challenge to build something high quality and complete, and I'm still incredibly proud of how much I accomplished solo. Smashy Dash taught me the discipline of finishing and the thrill of putting something into the world with your own name on it.
